n another wonderful finish to the Green Tour the winner of the coveted Green Jacket was decided in the final round at Druid Hills. After 15 years waiting to win the jacket in 2018 Jimmy “the Grip” O’Sullivan, defended his title in 2019 and become only the second back to back champion on the Green Tour. The last time this was achieved was by Eoin Lehane back at the turn of the Century.
Although Jim won by an impressive 7 strokes the destination of the jacket was very much in play until the final few holes. With 9 holes to play Colm Reilly, Ciaran McGill and Ciaran Morris were all in the hunt however Jim, pulling on his experience from last year and like the thoroughbred he is, eased away from the field. Danny Lynch led the field going into the final round and will have to wait another year to don the Jacket.Encouraged by the Dubs remarkable five in a row, Jim now sees three in a row as very achievable.
