Handicap Rules
Green Tour Handicap System
One of the driving principles of the Green Tour is that our competition is FAIR for all
members. To that end, a Green Tour handicap system, which was introduced in 2013, will
continue to be maintained with the NEW amendments for 2025 below:
Members will play off the lower of their AAdjusted GTI or GHIN Index.
NEW for 2025:
Any member who has won the green jacket more than once will have his GTI cut by 5% per number of wins (e.g. 2 times 10%, 3 time 15% etc.)
This adjusted GTI will be compared to the GHIN and the lower of this adjusted GTI and GHIN will be the Index applied to each round
With the new daily updates on GHIN handicaps the handicaps for each round will be set on the Monday evening before each round
A current “Official” USGA handicap is required before 03/15/2025 to be eligible for the
2025 Green Tour Competition.
The Final "Double" Round will be counted as 2 rounds for the purpose of calculating the members Green Tour Index
The maximum Handicap allowed on the Green Tour from 2025 onwards is :
Blue Tees 24 White Tees 22
Any new members joining after 2025 will be subject to a maximum handicap of 20 playing off the blue tees, 18 off the White Tees.
The Member's Green Tour Index (“GTI”) will be calculated using Green Tour Tournament scores ONLY. The Green Tour statistician has the Gross scores back to 2005.
The normal USGA handicap system will be used to calculate the index with the following amendments:
The Green Tour will use the following number of rounds that a member has recorded scores in:
a. If less than 16 rounds have been played :- the lowest (rounds played divided by 2) of the rounds played i.e. 8 rounds played - the lowest 4 scores
b. The lowest 8 scores if more than 16 rounds have been played
The GTI Calculation:
The differential for each tournament score will be calculated as follows: (Score – Rating ) *113/ Slope
Not withstanding the calculations above the MAXIMUM HANDICAP allowed on the Green Tours is 24 off the Blue Tees
Handicaps for Match Play Tournament
Matches are played off the lower handicap using 100% of the “net” difference in current Green Tour handicaps (Lower of GTI or GHIN) as of the Day of the Match.
Example: Player 1: 24 handicap, Player 2: 8 handicap – Player 1 should receive 16 shots
If any member has any questions or concerns, please contact the Handicap Director Paul White
